99 Nights in the Forest is a free co-op survival horror game on Roblox, made by the small group Grandma's Favourite Games. You and your friends build a camp in a dark forest, keep your campfire burning, and try to survive 99 nights — all while a two-legged deer-like creature hunts you and four missing children wait to be rescued.
The short version
During the day, you gather resources, craft gear, and strengthen your camp. At night, the forest turns hostile: the Deer — an unkillable, bipedal monster — comes out to hunt anyone away from the campfire. Your job is to stay alive, protect the camp, and rescue the four missing kids hidden around the map.
Every kid you rescue reduces the number of nights you need to survive, so the path to day 99 gets shorter the more you explore.
What you actually do
- Build a camp — chop wood, mine stone, and craft structures. The campfire is your safe zone at night, but only while it's lit.
- Survive the Deer — the Deer can't be killed by weapons. Flashlights stun it briefly so you can escape. It only attacks at night and won't enter the campfire's light unless the fire goes out.
- Rescue 4 kids — the missing children are hidden in caves guarded by wolves and bears. Finding them is a core objective.
- Fight cultists — cultists who worship the Deer attack your camp in raids, and you'll need to defend against them.
- Tame animals — use a Taming Flute to tame wolves, bears and more to fight beside you.
- Explore biomes — beyond the forest are the Volcanic and Snow biomes, both more dangerous but more rewarding.
The monsters
- The Deer — the main antagonist. Unkillable, fast, and gets hungrier (and more aggressive) some nights.
- The Owl, The Ram, The Cat, The Bat — other entities that can replace or join the Deer depending on the biome and update.
- Cultists — human enemies who worship the Deer and raid your camp.
Is it based on a true story?
Partially. The developers have said the game draws on the real story of four children who survived 40 days in the Amazon jungle after a 2023 plane crash, mixed with cryptid myths like the Wendigo and the Not Deer.
